Connection Instructions: Steps to Attending a Wimba Meeting

1) Turn off any "pop-up blockers"
a. Wimba uses them, so if they are disabled it may not function properly. You may turn them off first, or depending on your browser, you may be prompted when you select the link below and be given the option to allow only for this site, or this time. Please consult your IT expert if you are unsure of what to choose, or the standard supported by your organization.

2) Go to UAPCS's Wimba Site:

http:// 67.202.210.77/launcher.cgi?room=my_214644

a. There may be two windows that open.
b. The primary window allows you to select one of two options/buttons, Participant Login and Presenter Login. To the right there will be a link to "Run the Setup Wizard" if you click the presenter login - it will open the Participant window, which may have already appeared.
c. The second window is the actual participant login window. It will have a box for your name and an Enter button below. This may have just appeared after clicking the link, or after you clicked the Participant Login button from item b.

3) Run the Setup Wizard
a. If you have run the wizard recently, you may skip this step; otherwise select the link from the Welcome Screen (the item mentioned in step 1a). You may also want to run the wizard if you are experiencing any issues with viewing or listening to a Wimba session.
b. The wizard will check for various items. Follow the steps by clicking the "Start" button within the wizard.
c. What will it check? Pop-ups, Java installation, text chat, applets, playback, and recording (meaning your microphone).
(If you are not using a microphone, you may simply skip this step by selecting "Next." )
d. If at any time something fails, the wizard will provide basic instruction on troubleshooting. If you have any issues that you are not able to resolve, contact your IT expert or see the other resources listed at the bottom of this page.

4) Enter the room
a. Once you have either ran the Wizard and clicked on the Participant Login or the Login window just appeared, TYPE in your first name and select enter.

5) Participating
a. There are several ways to participate, depending on what your presenter has enabled. Most presentations will at least allow you to listen and make comments. You can also see who else is online. Both of these items are on the bottom portion of your screen. If your facilitator has enabled it, you may also be able to speak by selecting the "Talk" button.
